A recent string of power outages reportedly sent at least 4.5 million gallons of raw sewage from wastewater treatment plants throughout Seattle directly into the crisp waters of Puget Sound, once again illustrating that this leftist-run metropolis has a very serious poop problem on its hands.
Whenever the power goes out in Seattle, it seems that all hell breaks loose at its sewage facilities, which end up polluting the otherwise pristine beaches and waterways of coastal Washington without prejudice. Even as city leaders maintain strict focus on plastic straws and disposable bags as being the biggest issues that Seattle faces, it’s all of this raw sewage that’s the real problem – and the one that’s not being addressed or fixed.
Hilariously, Washington Governor and notorious leftist Jay Inslee has instituted a “Clean Up Puget Sound” tax as a “solution” – because stealing even more money from the people always leads to positive changes, according to liberals. But this tax, as you might imagine, has done absolutely nothing to fix the problem.
According to reports, King County’s two largest sewage plants, West Point Wastewater Treatment Plant and Renton Wastewater Treatment Plant, simply can’t contain all that toilet mush whenever the lights go out. And since that toilet mush has to go somewhere, it quickly makes its way to the lowest point in the area: the water.
“Beach closures have become a common occurrence in the Seattle area, as population density grows,” the group “Shift Washington” explains in a blog post.
“The Water and Land Resources Division (WLRD) of the King County Department of Natural Resources and Parks (DNRP) does a wonderful job monitoring our water conditions and posts a ton of data and reports on their website. Naturally, the first question people might have is why so much poop in the water?”

The answer to this question isn’t just that Seattle’s infrastructure is overloaded due to more people moving to the area – though that’s part of it. As it turns out, rampant homelessness throughout Seattle is also to blame, as so-called “homeless encampments” continue to pop up, producing a constant stream of human waste that continually gets washed down storm drains and dumped into Puget Sound.
“This ongoing threat to public and environmental health is never mentioned by the media and local politicians who work tirelessly to manage the narrative of an out of control vagrancy problem,” Shift Washington goes on to warn, explaining that homelessness is a “significant factor” contributing “to the amount of fecal material in our waters.”
But once again, rather than actually address these problems head-on, Seattle’s far-left “leadership” has decided to instead raise taxes as high as possible while they pretend to do something, rather than actually do something.
“Like Los Angeles, Portland, and other liberal controlled areas, what once were lovely cities to visit have turned into hellish pits of crap. Literally,” writes Faye Higbee for DC Clothesline, noting that the liberal “solution” to every problem is to simply raise taxes.
“On Hawaii’s island of Oahu, for example, there are over 2,400 ‘unsheltered homeless’ on their streets. The ‘sheltered homeless’ tops 4,000. New York City’s homeless problem has significantly increased as well, and many are blaming De Blasio. But there are at least 40,000+ homeless veterans on the streets of our nation. As service groups struggle to help them, it appears that liberals still think throwing money at the problem will solve it,” Higbee adds.
